So I have a total of 2 different beats on the Beats page from all the Preset files of one ADpak. 3) I also found that when I dragged and dropped into the open space in the External MIDI Files folder, I wound up with the same beat in all cases as the repeated one in the Preset folder (different from the beat I got when dragging to the External MIDI Files folder icon). I got a different beat than the ones in the Preset folder, so I dragged more of the presets into there, but ALL THOSE BEATS WERE THE SAME AS EACH OTHER. 2) So I tried dragging directly into the External MIDI Files folder. Refreshed the MIDI Library, and they all showed up on the Beats page, each with a bpm of 120, BUT ALL BEATS WERE THE SAME when I played them. Changed the file names to the name of each preset after dragging to the new Preset folder, all with the. Edit: Just saw that Kamikaze beat me to it. To get MIDI files, you buy MIDIPaks, not ADPaks. It doesn’t contain any MIDI as such, other than the small number of MIDI files supplied in order to listen to the presets. Each ADPak has a different timbre which is suited for one or more particular musical genres. When buying an ADPak you essentially buy a new drum kit with bass, snare, toms, hi-hats, cymbals and percussion including a number of different presets.Selecting it will display the contained MIDI files. You will see an entry called Presets (or whatever name you gave the folder). Now your presets will be accessible through the Beats page from the Library drop down.Once finished, go to the AD2 Help menu (the question mark) and select Refresh MIDI Library.

That was it! Once that setting was changed, then my hi hats worked perfectly! I did have to go back into AD and re-assign the open bow and open tip hats to the proper midi note number and I discovered that by reading the AD manual, but that was no biggie. In order to use it with Addictive Drums, it must be set to EXTERNAL. The answer was found under SETTINGS > MIDI > HH COMPATIBILITY. It was such an easy fix that I am shocked that no one knew about it. And that is exactly where the problem was. So everything within my understanding up to that point told me it was something with the TD-9 and that's where I needed to start troubleshooting. Everything in the manual made sense and helped me get a better understanding of what was going on, however my TD-9 kit was still not responding the way the manual said it should. I downloaded the manual and started reading that section. Someone told him to look into the AD manual on the section for setting up hi hats. Then I spent about 30 mins on the Addictive Drums forum and saw a guy with the same problem, but he had a different E-Kit, something other than Roland V-Drums.
Then I sent a message to Addictive Drums tech support and got nowhere. Then I spent several hours searching on youtube and found nothing. I spent several hours searching thru this forum for an answer, but found nothing. After spending an entire day on this, I FINALLY got my issue solved!
